Pastor Harry West
Word from the Pastor
My brother-in-law Wayne James' daughter Lisa was born with a severe handicap that would cause Lisa to go into violent seizures without any warning. Wayne would usually be the one holding Lisa during worship services, and I remember on one particular occasion when Lisa started having a seizure during the worship service. Wayne got up and with a strong, yet gentle love, carried Lisa to the back of the sanctuary where he held her close to his chest and rocked her, whispered to her, and did all he could to help Lisa through. One thing I noticed most of all was that there was no hint of embarrassment or frustration on Wayne's face . . . only love for his hurting daughter.
Love is what life is all about. In the Gospel of John, Jesus calls upon us to love one another as I have loved you. If we are living the life that Christ is calling us to live then we are to reach out to one another in love. We are to lay our differences aside and open up our hearts to one another in love. Easter has come and gone. But remember that Christ died upon a cruel and lonely cross and he did it out of love for you and me. So, let us love as Christ would have us to love.
Prayer: Our Heavenly Father, fill us with Your love so that we can love one another as You would have us to love. Amen.
